1. Since Freemasonry is a fraternal organization, you must be a man to become a Freemason. However, women can participate in our sister organizations such as the Order of the Eastern Star, Rainbow for girls, Jobs Daughters, and Daughters of the Nile.
2. You must be 18 years or older, though some groups require a man to be 21 or older. If you do not meet the age requirement, we recommend The Order of Demolay, a Masonic youth group for young men.
3. You must believe in a supreme being. We are not concerned with the specific details of your supreme being or your particular religion. We have members from all walks of life and religions. Since a belief in a supreme being is part of our foundation, atheists cannot become Masons.
4. You must want to join for yourself, not the influence of others. In other words, you should not be pressured to join because a family member or friend wants you to. You should want to join because you want to be part of the brotherhood of men who share common beliefs and values.
5. You must be a man of character. While morality is open to interpretation, you must be a man of good values and good morals. A background check is required for membership. We understand the people sometimes make mistakes. These will not necessarily keep you from joining! Just be honest during your candidacy process.
6. If this is the right time for you to join, then let's get you started in the process. Come by the Lodge before one of our meetings and meet the brothers. We will get you started on filling out a petition to join.
